Sorta drifting from the original materials...

We tend to concentrate on the mustard seed.  Mark, unlike Luke and 
Matthew, precedes the mustard seed with a story about a planter.  It 
would, of course, be easy to analogize the story -- i.e. to say that the 
planter stands for God -- but I, no fan of analogizing, am thinking of 
looking at it more as a story of human experience, one benefiting from 
the growth in the world around oneself. 

Might speak more of the imminence of the Kingdom by that route... or 
even of the presence.
