We're celebrating our patronal festival this coming Sunday - St Alban's Day, which is actually the 22nd. 

Our Gospel text talks about mothers and daughters, sons and fathers, children and parents  - and losing our lives for Jesus' sake.

The first reading, interestingly, is "The souls of the just are in God's hand ..." (Wisdom) and the epistle is 1 John: "Friends, don't be surprised if the world hates you ... "
