[Propertalk] Ascension on Sunday

 Evidently the compilers of the lectionary put the story of the Ascension found in the Acts of the Apostles as the first reading on the 7th Sunday of Easter in case some congregations missed the feast on the Thursday prior.  My experience is that even some liturgical churches do nothing special on the Thursday.  And even if they did most parishioners will not have been in church on that day.  Therefore, we have a reference to the Ascension on Sunday.  Of course, the purists among us will want to look at the Gospel and leave the Ascension on Thursday.
